• How can I find out more about your work?

  Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is the world’s largest humanitarian air operator. For over 75 years we have been flying light aircraft over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts. We enable more than 1,400 aid, development and mission organisations to bring medical care, emergency relief and long-term development. Our pilots and personnel deliver relief workers, doctors, pastors, school books, food, medicines - everything that can only be safely and speedily delivered by air. Our faithful supporters give and pray to make this all possible.

• How will my donation be spent?

  Every five and half minutes one of our planes takes off or lands in one of the many countries in which we serve around the world.

  Millions of people cannot access basic medical care, clean water, schools or receive the Good News of God’s love, simply because it’s too dangerous or time-consuming to reach them. We provide flights for 2000 aid, development and mission organisations to enable them to transform lives. It’s a great partnership – and you can help make it possible.

  The donations provided by our generous supporters enable MAF to bring physical and spiritual assistance to those living in isolation – people who would otherwise be out of reach.

• How are you funded?

  In the UK, MAF is a registered charity funded by voluntary gifts which help finance MAF’s operational work and support services.

  Approximately 80% of all charitable giving goes directly to our operations overseas, enabling help and hope to reach remote or inaccessible places. The rest is used as a resource to enable us to raise awareness and generate funds.

  If you support MAF, you will reach out to thousands of people in need. You will help provide a lifeline in an emergency. You will multiply the work of over 2,000 organisations that rely on our aircraft to transport NGOs, teachers, doctors, pastors, relief supplies and much more.

• Where do you serve?

  We fly light aircraft in more than 25 countries, operating from more destinations than any other airline.

• What drives the notifications?

  We use our flight data to provide this. However as we operate in isolated places in many time zones where security is paramount, our data cannot be fully collated and provided real-time so we delay the notifications by up to a week.

• How often are my donations made?

  Your pledges are accumulated over each calendar month, so you can see how much your current donation balance is on the Home and Profile screens, and after that month’s activity we will take one payment for the total amount of pledges that have been activated - though never more than the cap that you have set.

• Can I accidentally donate too much?

  No, when you add a payment method to MAF Wingmate, you set a monthly donation cap. Donations will never exceed this monthly cap. In case you made a mistake you can change your monthly cap or take payment holidays at any time. You can always see the current balance for a month in your app.

• What if I change my mind?

  No problem at all! You can edit your monthly cap, the limit of how much you want to donate in calendar months and the amount of how much you want to donate for a specific pledge at any time. You can also change or pause your pledges and edit, remove or freeze your payment card at any time. We will not charge you anything if your card was frozen or disabled for a specific month.

• Can I add Gift Aid to my donation?

  Yes, certainly! You can donate an additional 25% each month at no extra cost. To include Gift Aid with your donation, we require your address and postcode. You can conveniently edit these details anytime under your profile settings or the dedicated Gift Aid section within the app.

• Why hasn’t my donation been taken?

  We process transactions that exceed £5 per month due to processing fees associated with our payment gateway. If your donation amount does not meet this threshold, the funds are rolled over and added to the balance for the following month. This consolidation helps optimise the use of donations by mitigating processing fees for smaller transactions.

• How is my donation taken?

  We use Stripe as our payment provider to securely process all donations made through our app. Stripe is a trusted and reliable platform known for its security and seamless payment processing. You can use your credit card, Apple Pay (on iOS) and Google Pay (Android) to set up your payments.

• Are my payment details secure?

  Yes, we are using Stripe Inc, a secure PCI Service Provider Level 1 certified payment provider to manage your payment and credit card information. The PCI Service Provider Level 1 is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry, ensuring your data is kept secure. MAF UK does not have access to your card details.

• How do I use the app?

  We tried to design the app to be easy to use and accessible for everyone. However, if you get stuck on how to set up or use the MAF Wingmate app, we have a set of guides to help you. • What is a pledge?

  A pledge is a virtual promise that is locked by a set of conditions. Funds towards this pledge will only be taken from your linked card at the end of the month if the conditions attached to the pledge are met. For example, you might set up a pledge to make a donation for every medical evacuation conducted by MAF. When the charity conducts a medical evacuation, funds are added to your monthly balance and will be used to support community projects across the world. A donor can set the amount they want to pledge and the conditions for the donation.

• Is my data secure?

  The app provider holds Cyber Essentials and IASME Level 1 accreditations, ensuring stringent security measures are in place to safeguard your data. Your privacy and security are of utmost importance to us, and we maintain robust standards to protect your information.
